Winter might be when you want to rug up and hibernate, but we all know that moving our body is not only fantastic for physical health but also our mental health. So, how do we get motivated to move in Winter?
It’s time to move your exercise indoors.
There are so many things we can do indoors other than hitting the gym, here’s a few ideas to mix things up a bit this Winter.
Register for an online course.
There are so many free courses online, get googling. Free courses are a great way to try out different forms of movement and exercise and also different instructors. If you really love something then you can commit to a longer course or mix it up with a series of short courses. These are cost effective, private and the convenience of being able to move your body in the comfort of home means you’re more likely to get it done.
Try a team sport.
Lace up your shoes, grab a friend and try netball, soccer, badminton or basketball. This is also a great way to socialise and even make new friends. Sign up this season to something new and reap the rewards.
Feel the beat.
Dance classes can be done solo, with friends or even with a partner. Try belly dancing, modern dance, hip hop, ballroom or even some sensual feminine energy classes.
Be a big kid again.
How much fun was roller-skating?! Lace up some boots and get back in the rink this Winter. You could also try ice skating or roller derby. Another fun thing to try from childhood might be ten-pin bowling, have a weekly game with a friend or join a team.
Dive in.
Indoor pools have so many facilities available these days, from slow swim lanes for solo laps to swim lessons, rehabilitation services and also exercise classes. Some swim centres also have cold therapy plunge pools and infrared saunas.
